EVENT INFO

The CPI Symposium is a free, invitational event scheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please contact us if you need the specific location.

The Symposium will consist of panel discussions featuring leading voices in national, state, and local cannabis policy, as well as presentations of academic and policy research supported by CPI. A detailed program schedule, including speakers and topics, will be distributed to invitees and posted on this site in the coming weeks.

Attendees will be served breakfast and lunch, with coffee and refreshments available throughout the day.

The CPI Symposium coincides with MJBizCon, the nation's largest cannabis conference and expo, which is taking place December 3–6 just a short ride away at the Las Vegas Convention Center. We encourage Symposium invitees to consider attending MJBizCon and/or its special Empowering Women in Cannabis networking event, which will begin shortly after our event.

ABOUT CPI

The Cannabis Policy Institute at UNLV (CPI) was established in 2023 to drive public policy surrounding cannabis legalization and explore related implications for medicine, research, and business. CPI is dedicated to developing thoughtful and reliable cannabis policy and research guidance, as well as expanding education and community engagement opportunities.

Leadership

CPI is led by Riana Durrett, a well-known figure in Nevada’s cannabis law and policy space who teaches cannabis law at UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law. Riana was appointed by the governor to serve as vice chair of the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board. From 2015 to 2020, she served as executive director of the Nevada Dispensary Association, where she established herself as the cannabis industry’s primary voice on regulatory and government affairs.
